Being the tenth child in a family of thirteen, Nkanda pursued his musical studies at the National Institute of Arts (INA) in Kinshasa and later studied marketing and business management at Leadership Academia University, also in Kinshasa. He furthered his education by completing a Master’s degree in Theology at the Global School of Theology in South Africa.

As a visionary leader, he co-founded the Rhema Worship, a school for worship leaders, and established the Culte Institute, a center for capacity building. Athoms’ musical journey took off when he joined the Gaël group in 1998, marking the beginning of his professional music career. Following the passing of Alain Moloto, he became the coordinator of the Gaël group on September 23, 2013.

In a collaborative effort with his wife, he released his debut album titled “Le culte” in 2013, leaving a lasting impact on the gospel music scene. Besides his musical career, he founded a school and was involved in pastoral responsibilities alongside Apostle Roland Dalo, for whom he served as assistant pastor. He pursued studies in various fields, from music to theology, and is now a university lecturer.
