CHRIST MY ABILITY.
“The LORD will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand.” Deuteronomy 28:12
Let’s read together 1 Corinthians 15:9-10 • Genesis 41:15-16
Today, I often hear people say: “Pastor Sanogo is a determined person, who goes all the way with his projects, a person with strong willpower…”. In fact, I myself am surprised every time I hear this comment, because it wasn’t always like that. Indeed, I have always been someone hesitant who lacked conviction and firmness, someone very indecisive. So, listening to these testimonies, I am aware that it is not me, but Christ in me who accomplishes these things.
When I hear all the testimonies glorifying God for the teachings, prayer times, crusades, miracles that bless and transform millions of lives around the world…, I remember how many used to mock my way of speaking. “You speak too fast, it’s hard to follow you!” And that wasn’t untrue, I really did speak fast.
Today, by His grace, the Lord uses the words that come out of my mouth to bless so many lives! No, it’s not me, I know… It’s not Mohammed Sanogo. The real Mohammed doesn’t know how to speak; someone else does it in me. I wasn’t capable of seeing my projects through to the end, I missed the mark because of my hesitations. I would start, but I wouldn’t finish, and when I reached the end, I finished poorly. Today, many speak of my achievements. No, it’s not me, it’s Christ.
I understand why Daniel, Joseph, and all those men who served the nations felt uncomfortable when people wanted to attribute these supernatural abilities to them; they all said: “It is God who can do it!” These weren’t words to appear humble, but they reflected their inner truth. I even want to say that it was a profound reality for them.
The ability to be a person who knows who they are in Christ, a person whose yes is yes, and no is no, will not come from your own ability, but from Christ’s abilities in you. So even when through your education and experiences, you have acquired character, don’t rely on your strengths, but rather on those of Christ in you. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13); He is your strength.
Being exceptional in a field, achieving high expertise will not come from you either, but from Christ. He is the Expert, He who does all things perfectly. He also knows the real needs of Men. So, don’t rely on your wisdom to hope to serve the nations. Don’t count on your intelligence to influence lives, but Christ, in you, will. Perhaps you are already very intelligent and influential, but there is a higher dimension. Don’t put your trust in your own ability, put it in Jesus, and you will discover things beyond your understanding.
The Apostle Paul could cite the great exploits of his ministry, but he acknowledged that it wasn’t him, but Christ in him who had accomplished them. Yes, you can do all things through Him who strengthens you. I was quite hesitant when I had to characterize the ability of blessing influence; I could have called it “Christ in us,” which is also a valid aspect for all blessings.
But in reality, you become influential not only because Christ is in you, but also by maintaining the values (divine characters) and know-how of Christ (divine expertise). We will learn to let Christ manifest His Character and Expertise in us, which I have grouped under the term “efficiency”.
Let’s pray together: Acknowledge that your good character and accomplishments do not come from you but from Christ who is in you. Amen 1.
I read my Bible in 1 year: 1 Kings 16 • Ezekiel 46 • Colossians 3
