Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. — 1 Chronicles 29:11

I would like to ask you a question. When facing the challenges of life, what is your first instinct? Do you tend to worry, panic, or praise God?

A few years ago, I lost my job, my residency permit had expired, and I was literally broke. As if that wasn’t enough, I received a phone call from my landlord informing me that I was going to be evicted for not paying my rent. I was at my wit’s end.

One night, unable to sleep, I got up to pray. I was so discouraged that I began by pouring out my distress to God, accompanied by complaints and lamentations. Then I heard His voice—gentle yet firm—say to me: “Worship Me! Celebrate Me!”

It was hard, I admit. I really didn’t feel like it, but I made an effort anyway. To help myself, I took out my Bible dictionary and looked up “Greatness of God.” I read the definition and the verses related to God’s greatness. This verse in 1 Chronicles particularly caught my attention, because these are the words of a great worshiper: King and prophet David himself.

A man who had experienced every high and low in his walk with God. So, his words are not just empty phrases but the fruit of an intimate journey—marked by tears, laughter, loss, and celebration.

David says, “Yours is the glory, for everything belongs to you; you are exalted as head over all,” and without realizing it, I found myself repeating this phrase over and over, until fear vanished from my heart and praise took its place. That’s when I received my breakthrough.

Yes, EVERYTHING—absolutely EVERYTHING—belongs to my Father. He is the greatest, the richest, the most powerful, and He is above ALL. So I have nothing to fear.

Worship is not a reminder to God of who He is. Worship is a reminder to our soul of who our God is. When you worship and celebrate God, you remind your consciousness that the Almighty God in whom you believe is in control.

Action for the Day:
Your strength and courage come from your ability to see your God for who He truly is—your Father. Today, think about His immense greatness and the fact that He owns everything. And when we say everything, we mean health, money, opportunities, intelligence, relationships, children, possessions—in short, EVERYTHING.

Let this truth fill your heart.

Let us pray:
Oh Father, it is hard to keep my eyes on You and think of You in the midst of turmoil, but today help me, intentionally, to focus on You—on Your greatness and almighty power—so that I may grow in my love and trust in You…
