Overcoming the Challenges on Your Territory.
Being on your territory doesn’t exclude you from difficulties, but it does place you in a better position to claim victory. The best course of action when facing unfavorable circumstances is to listen to God’s instructions. No matter what happens, you must remain where you are. The Bible presents several examples of God giving specific guidance to those who face challenges on their own ground. Take Jesus Christ, for instance, born in Bethlehem, who had to flee due to King Herod’s desire to kill Him, fearing that Jesus might take his throne. Herod had certainly seen Jesus’ star, which had a profound impact, such as:
- Attracting the wise men from the East,
- The visibility and brilliance of His star,
- The wise men worshiped Jesus and brought provisions,
- The star disturbed Herod and all of Jerusalem.
One might wonder why God didn’t simply strike Herod down. It was essential for the prophecy of Hosea to be fulfilled:
“He stayed there until the death of Herod. This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: ‘Out of Egypt I called My Son.’” (Matthew 2:15)
Hosea’s prophecy stated: “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son.” (Hosea 11:1)
It was also important to follow God’s directives because an angel had warned Joseph in a dream about what was to come:
“An angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, ‘Get up, take the child and His mother, and flee to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill Him.’” (Matthew 2:13)
During His ministry, Jesus told His disciples:
“When you are persecuted in one town, flee to the next.” (Matthew 10:23)
He sent them on a mission, equipping them with two crucial things: power and wisdom. Power to heal the sick, cast out demons, cleanse lepers, and raise the dead. Wisdom to give them the knowledge needed to successfully carry out their mission, with all the instructions Jesus provided. Power, if used without wisdom, can lead to destruction.
Some might have said they had the anointing and therefore would not flee from the persecutions Jesus warned them about. But if you lack wisdom when it comes to divine instructions, you could die with all the anointing you have.
The Apostle John described a scene that appeared in heaven, where three main characters are mentioned: the woman representing Israel, the dragon, Satan, and the child, Jesus. The devil wanted to devour the child, which explains Herod’s behavior toward Jesus Christ. However, seeing that the child was taken up to God and His throne, and realizing he could not destroy Him, Satan, in his destructive works, waged war in heaven.
It was a war where the evil one sought to take God’s place because of the child that God had elevated to become King. Satan, in his pride, could not accept this. Failing in his attempt, he turned his attacks against the woman, but God instructed her to flee to a place prepared for her…
