SEASONS OF ABUNDANCE AND SCARCITY.
In every man’s life, there is a season of abundance and a season of scarcity. In every man’s life, there will be a season of abundance and a season of drought.
What do these seasons mean?
According to Pharaoh’s dream and Joseph’s interpretation, the seven fat cows or the seven years of abundance represent the seasons of abundance and the opportunities in every man’s life. What kind of opportunities are we talking about here? We have:
● The opportunity to know God,
● The opportunity to maximize one’s destiny,
● The opportunity to invest in one’s life,
● The opportunity found in the strength of youth.
Then the seven years of famine represent years of constraint, times of disadvantage, times of scarcity in everyone’s life — for many reasons.
For example, let’s consider biological age. Would you agree with me that if a man is between 60 and 70 years old, whether he is prepared or not, the seasons have changed? Because the strength you had at 10, 20, or 30 may no longer be there. You may no longer have that level of energy — it’s proof that the seasons have changed. And if you work in your country, maybe you’re a civil servant working for the government:
Whether you’re ready or not, there’s something called retirement, right? This means you can no longer go to work and receive a regular salary. The primary reason pension systems function properly is that it’s part of obeying Joseph’s wisdom. Is that true? It means that after years of hard work, something is set aside so that after retirement, it can be given to you. We’ll get to that.
Now take for example a young man in ministry, perhaps 30 or 40 years old, functioning like a man in his 50s or 60s — a man who may not have the strength to run. And this young man sees himself as a great man of God. Do you know what you’re doing? You’re already destroying the opportunity you’ve been given for the seasons ahead.
That’s how many young people waste the opportunity they were given to maximize their destiny. There is a course I teach at the School of Ministry. I named it “The Charts of Life.” This course was introduced to transmit wisdom to students — to help them understand the brevity of life and lead an effective and efficient life. Do we agree?
The idea for this course came after I read an obituary. It was a 2-3 minute video. I saw a man who was over 80 years old, and for some reason, they managed to gather pictures of him — I don’t know how. There were photos from his teenage years, youth, adulthood, maturity, old age, with his grandchildren, and a final one on his hospital bed, just before death.
So I saw an entire man’s destiny summarized in two minutes. That moment impacted my life. That’s why the Bible says:
“Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12
That’s why I decided to teach this course — to help students understand that no matter how long life may seem, it’s actually very short. There’s a song that says: “In the best of worlds, life is very short — like a falling leaf.” Are you learning something?
Please, don’t take what I’m about to say personally. It’s the truth. I’ve seen old people who today have no one to help them. They walk alone as if they never had the privilege of youth. And the question that keeps coming to mind is: What did they do with those days? Because in the meantime, the lean cows had already come to devour the fat cows.
I told you earlier that years can devour years. There are people retiring today as directors, CEOs — and yet they can’t raise 100,000 francs (€250) with dignity. Because during their time of glory, they didn’t know that seasons would change. There are musicians today — I say this respectfully — there are athletes who, once upon a time, when their name was mentioned, people stayed up all night. But now, they walk the streets unnoticed, because seasons have changed. Is it true? Once upon a time in many nations…
When certain names were mentioned — once upon a time in Africa — these were powerful men. Look at people like Reinhard Bonnke, T.L. Osborn, Billy Graham. As much as we love them, the truth is, whether we like it or not, by the law of seasons — they are definitively gone.
Seasons! That means that anyone on the stage today would be wise to realize someone had to leave the stage for them to be there. And you must also realize that after some time, the light of destiny will move on from you too. Now listen: There is a subtle deception that comes with the season of glory — it makes you think you’ll never leave the stage, for any reason.
Men of God have fallen into this trap. Politicians have fallen into it. Parents too. They forgot that one day, little children would grow up to become youths — and they mistreated the children. Today, many are old, wrinkled, and abandoned. Abandoned by angry adults who were once those mistreated children. There are nations today that failed to invest in their youth during their season of power.
Many of those youth are now criminals, sowing terror in society. Some people rose in honor but never helped anyone their entire lives. They never lifted anyone up in their community — they alone enjoyed their season of abundance. Then when the devil attacked them, he found them all alone — because they had no support system.
So learn the wisdom that comes from this mystery. Pharaoh, you saw the dream twice because the matter is established — there’s nothing you can do to change it. All you can do is build a system to overcome it. Hallelujah!
It is dangerous to be described as “Once upon a time, he was relevant.” It is dangerous for your life, while you’re still breathing, to become a warning rather than a message. People will say, “If you want to go far, don’t be like him.” Yet you’re still alive. Are you learning something?
So we now understand that there are alternating seasons in every person’s life.
When the rainy season comes, it brings a letter from the dry season saying, “I’m coming…”
And when the dry season arrives, it brings a letter from the rainy season saying, “I’m coming too…”
So if you embrace your current season but ignore the letter preparing you for the next one, you’ll be in trouble. The moment people begin to celebrate you and shout “Wow!”, remember that one day, those same people will shout “Crucify him!”
And when you hear “Crucify him,” remember that one day, John will be standing by the cross too.
Note: Listen, if you master the seasons, you’ll remain relevant (indispensable) in both. I’m speaking because some of you are in one of these seasons right now. You might be in a season where no one knows you. You’re a man of God, created by God.
No one knows you. No invitations. No fame. No glory. Nothing. But if you do nothing with this season, your season of manifestation will still come — whether you’re ready or not. Do you know that once in my life, I had the luxury to pray? I could lock myself in for three days straight because I had time. Today, I no longer have that kind of time. If I want that, I have to sacrifice much — many programs will suffer just so I can have three days to myself.
Season change!
Young lady, now that you have no children, God tells you to fast for three days and you say no. You don’t know what days are coming. You don’t know the responsibility and spiritual attacks that may come upon your children. You’re enjoying the fat cows and God is telling you to pray.
Young man, you want to start a ministry, and you’re already moving around with protocol officers. God says, Nonsense — sit down. There are days coming, and you don’t know the demons that attack mantles and anointings. Prepare, because where God is sending you, you’ll need the power of the Spirit to see the results you desire.
I can tell you — don’t let people pity you and stop you from preparing for the great seasons ahead. Sometimes people love you too much. They’ll say, “It’s too much… this fasting is too much… this is too intense…” — not knowing other seasons are coming. God says He wants to lift you and give you influence among kings. The Lord tells you to pursue another diploma, another training. But you’re busy enjoying comfort, saying “It’s too much,” and the devil deceives you into thinking time is running out. Don’t say time is running out — there is time for everything.
But let me tell you — when you buy a product, you often see the phrase “Best before…”
That means, if you want to enjoy the product, use it before a certain date.
Imagine a 45-year-old man going to primary school. Years without knowledge are wasted. And if I were the teacher, I wouldn’t even test him — I’d just give him a P and tell him to go. Because he’s wasting time. When young students are jumping and rejoicing, that man will be thinking about his child. What’s wrong with my child now? Seasons…
