The sword is the only offensive weapon in God’s armor. It represents the Word of God, which is alive, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12).

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He did not argue with Satan but responded with Scripture: “It is written” (Matthew 4:4). This is how we fight—by declaring God’s truth in every situation.

Memorize Scripture so that when temptation, fear, or doubt strikes, you’re ready to fight back. If you’re struggling with fear, declare Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you.” The Word is your weapon—use it boldly.

The Power of Prayer

Paul concludes: “Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.” (Ephesians 6:18)

Prayer is not just a defensive act; it pushes back the darkness, intercedes for others, and brings heaven’s authority into earthly situations.

My Own Story: Standing Firm Against Opposition

A few years ago, I resolved to take the gospel to the streets of London—preaching boldly and praying for the sick in hospitals, my heart burning to see souls won for Jesus. The first two outings were met with a sense of divine favor, and my confidence grew. But on the third day, as I prepared to leave after a long day of work in Forest Hill, the unexpected happened.

It wasn’t mere discomfort—it was an attack. Out of nowhere, an intense asthma episode struck me. It felt like an invisible hand was squeezing my chest, robbing me of air, movement, and strength. The same body that had carried me through the vibrant streets just days before now felt trapped, weak, and trembling.

This wasn’t supposed to happen. Years earlier, I had been miraculously healed of asthma at a crusade in Abidjan, my hometown. Since that moment, I hadn’t experienced even a shadow of a crisis. Yet now, as I prepared to proclaim Christ’s victory, this old adversary returned with ferocity, as if to mock my mission.

The distance to my destination was short— normally just a five-minute walk—but that evening, it felt like a battlefield. Each step was agony. My breaths were shallow and labored. My legs felt like lead, my body resisting every inch of progress. I called my husband to let him know what was happening. His concern was immediate, and his advice practical: “Go home and rest,” he urged.

But something in me refused to turn back. “No,” I told him, my voice firm despite the struggle. “I will go still. If I have to die, then let me die.” My determination wasn’t born out of stubbornness but out of a deep conviction that this was more than a physical attack—it was a spiritual attempt to silence me, to prevent me from fulfilling the calling God had placed on my heart.

With every step, I whispered prayers, clinging to the promises of God. Slowly but resolutely, I made my way to the place I had planned to minister. Then, just as suddenly as the attack had come, it lifted. The tightness in my chest vanished. The pain evaporated. My strength returned. It was as though the enemy’s grip had been broken by an unseen hand.

Standing in that place, surrounded by the people I had come to minister to, I felt a surge of divine authority. I preached the gospel with boldness, prayed for the sick, and witnessed the power of God move among the people. The very ground the enemy had tried to keep me from became a place of victory.

Looking back, I know that moment was more than an asthma attack. It was a confrontation—a reminder that the enemy will stop at nothing to dissuade, discourage, and make us retreat. But it was also a lesson in the power of standing firm.

God’s armor isn’t just a metaphor; it’s a reality that empowers us to press forward in the face of opposition. That evening, I saw firsthand what it means to resist the enemy, to stand in the strength of the Lord, and to claim the victory that Jesus has already won. When we refuse to turn back—when we choose to trust in God’s strength over our own—we become unstoppable.

This is the call to every believer: to stand firm, armed with truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God. The enemy may roar, but his power is already broken. And when we stand, we don’t just hold ground—we advance, claiming territory for the kingdom of God.

Armed and Dangerous

When you put on the armor of God, you’re not just defending yourself; you’re standing as a soldier in God’s army, equipped to withstand the enemy’s schemes and advance His kingdom. Satan may roar like a lion, but he’s already defeated. Your armor isn’t just for protection—it’s a declaration that you belong to the victorious King.
