The Holy Spirit guides Christians to the extent they know Him through the new birth. However, for those filled with the Holy Spirit and praying in tongues, the guidance of the Holy Spirit is available to a much greater extent. Yet, I have discovered that this additional measure of the Holy Spirit operates in my life only when I practice praying continually and daily in tongues.

I am not talking about merely uttering a few words in tongues. If you only do that, the ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life will not be much different from what it was before you were filled with the Spirit. I am talking about taking the time to truly pray in tongues and spend time with God every day. If you make the effort to maintain a Spirit-filled life by praying much in tongues, the God Spirit will communicate with you through your own spirit.

1 Corinthians 14:14 says:

“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.“

The Holy Spirit supernaturally directs your prayer by giving you the words. He prays through you for things that have not yet happened. Over the years, I have discovered that there has never been any illness or death in my family of which I was not aware and for which I had not prayed in advance, sometimes even two years in advance. This kind of revelation knowledge doesn’t come only from the prophet’s gifts of revelation. I also exercise this ministry. But the Bible says that the Holy Spirit will show every believer things to come.

“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.” John 15:26-27

Every believer can be informed by the Spirit about something in advance when they trust in God.

Often, things are revealed when believers pray in tongues. Since I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, I have often had this experience when praying in tongues. The Holy Spirit has shown me things to come before they even happened, so that I could pray accordingly. It was simply a matter of praying in tongues and sensing in my spirit what I was praying for.
