In the book of Exodus, chapter 12, the nation of Egypt undergoes divine judgment. It is important to understand that it was not God Himself who was killing people, but rather the destroyer, the exterminator.

“Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out of the door of your house until morning. When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.” Exodus 12:22-23

The blood that was applied to the doorframes protected those who had put their trust in the Word of God.

“But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!” Hebrews 9:11-14

The blood of Jesus is protection for our spiritual lives. The Bible says that Jesus Christ presented His blood before the Father, and that this blood purifies us, washes us, protects us, and heals us.

Holy Communion carries great power. If you are facing oppression, I encourage you to meditate on the blood of Jesus and take Communion at home. When you take the fruit of the vine, symbolizing the blood of Jesus Christ, and do it in faith, it drives away evil spirits from your life and lifts oppression. Above all, remember that you are blessed with every spiritual blessing and that you are seated in the heavenly realms with Jesus Christ.

The devil has no right to touch your life, because you have become a child of God, and he is under your feet! That’s why he may strike your heel from time to time, but we have full spiritual power and authority over him:

“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.“ Luke 10:19

God has given us authority to cast out demons and to drive out any spirit that would try to prevent us—or others—from fulfilling the perfect will of God. When you take Communion, you become a PARTAKER of Christ!

“We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.” Hebrews 3:14

When you take Communion, it’s as if the blood of Christ flows through your veins. Spiritually speaking, the blood of Jesus flows through your spiritual veins—so you don’t need to shout at the devil until you lose your voice, you don’t need to chase the devil around. But when you feel deep within that you are facing spiritual oppression, don’t allow yourself to remain in that state for days and days, because it will weaken you spiritually!

Communion is the covenant in the Powerful Blood of Jesus Christ! I proclaim that the Blood of Jesus Christ is powerful in your life to tear down darkness and oppression, nightmares and anxiety that come your way!

Someone once said that the blood of Jesus flows like a fountain from heaven to us. What a beautiful image! Yes, the blood of Jesus flows over me and within me, and I myself am the dwelling place of the Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and Earth!

The blood of Jesus protects you and will continue to protect you from all evil, and nothing shall harm you. Do not be intimidated, even if you think you see shadows or hear noises! Even if you hear a voice—know this: the devil has no power and no authority over you! Jesus Christ stripped him of it! And Jesus Christ lives in you—the devil knows it, he sees it in you, and he recognizes your authority and is afraid, just like a little dog gets scared when a firecracker explodes beside it. The devil trembles when you exercise your spiritual authority.

You don’t need to “feel” anything to be able to exercise your authority—just like a police officer doesn’t need to “feel” the badge on his uniform to enforce the law. You wear the mantle of God’s Glory—the mantle of the redeemed, the mantle of the chosen, the mantle of high ambassadors of Christ clothed in the anointing and presence of God.

Smith Wigglesworth was once in his room when the devil himself appeared to him (remember, he can only be in one place at a time), and Smith simply said: “What are you doing here?!” That reminds me of people who try to prank you to scare you, and when it doesn’t work, they just feel ridiculous. That’s what it’s like when the devil encounters a Christian who knows their authority in Christ. He is disarmed, and his power is exposed.

The power the devil has in a Christian’s life is only what the Christian gives him. Knowing who we are in Christ, what Christ accomplished for us on the cross, and living a life of holiness—these are powerful keys to remaining above any “nest” the enemy might try to build on our heads. Just as the exterminator passed over the homes of God’s people, the bird will fly over your head but will not be able to land. What Jesus Christ did for us is wonderful:

“And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” Colossians 2:15
