I will never stop repeating it: choosing a woman is a delicate matter, a venture that is far from easy. Remember, in Genesis 24:3-4, the patriarch Abraham sent his faithful servant to find a wife for his son Isaac, making him swear an oath—and that servant was guided in his mission by signs from the Lord. His words were as follows:

And I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites among whom I dwell, but that you will go to my country and to my kindred to take a wife for my son Isaac.

In the Bible, most encounters between men and women took place near a well—such as the case of Abraham’s servant and Rebekah, Isaac’s wife. At that time, the well was a place of great social importance, enabling meetings between young shepherd girls—who bore the heavy responsibility of fetching water over long distances—and strangers.

Today, this same concept applies to us: the kind of woman we hope to meet often depends on the kind of places we go. So gentlemen, where are you stepping into?

It is crucial to pay close attention to this, because the well also symbolizes a place where one draws water to be refreshed. In the same way, you must ensure that the woman you meet is a strong and admirable woman—not only outwardly, but also inwardly—because beauty is a deceptive sign that has led many men to later regret their choices, sometimes when it is too late to turn back…
