The Anointing Of The Intercessor And The Royal Anointing
The anointing of the intercessor is a priestly type of anointing. It instinctively teaches the art of intercession by channeling spiritual abilities to stand before God on behalf of others through a supernatural love and sense of sacrifice.
It may seem simple, but those who know the art of intercession understand that praying for others is difficult due to man’s selfish nature. Many claim to have this ability, but in truth, very few actually do.
Some people pray for others, their families and friends, but true intercession is driven by an anointing that supernaturally communicates the same burden Jesus carries for humanity. It goes deeper than our natural feelings of affection or our sense of duty or gratitude.
Job’s friends prayed and fasted for him for seven days, and yet ended up accusing him—revealing the incapacity of natural emotions to meet the spiritual demands of intercession.
Those who intercede through the Holy Spirit do so through a supernatural impulse that may even drive them to the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus modeled intercession under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. His intercession led to His death, but even beyond that, He remains in the role of an advocate.
The intercessor is supernaturally won over to the cause of the “defendant,” even if the latter is guilty.
The intercessor’s anointing imposes the life of intercession as a divine necessity. To fail in this is akin to sin.
The Holy Spirit desires to release this anointing upon all the children of God; He wants to communicate the same burden of the Creator for His kingdom and especially for mankind. He wants to enable hearts to beat in unison with the One who gave Himself as a ransom for man’s salvation. He seeks to transmit, in great measure, the anointing that establishes the priesthood.
It is an anointing that will support the priestly function of Christ until the renewal of all things, when the Son will hand the kingdom over to the Father.
The Royal Anointing
In monarchies, the king is a symbol of glory, power, authority, wealth, and prestige. He is the supreme authority in the kingdom, and this confers upon him specific royal functions.
Although history shows us many different ways in which kings came to power, no one can attain such a position unless established by God. That is why prophets anointed kings—it was a symbol of the royal anointing of Christ.
“Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king in place of his father David. He prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.“ — 1 Chronicles 29:23
The throne of the Lord! Understand that the throne of Israel symbolized the throne of the Lord. See how delicate the task is! Sitting on the throne of the Lord requires a special anointing that imparts the necessary capabilities for the role, including: Ruling, Governing, Administering, Commanding, Judging, Punishing.
When the Israelites asked for a king, it displeased both God and Samuel, who clearly understood God’s plan. At first glance, it’s hard to see what’s wrong with asking for a king—but it becomes clear when you consider the history of this people.
Israel’s calling was unique because God Himself was their King, and His reign was to be revealed through His Messiah. This Messiah, prophesied to rule over the nations, would subjugate the kings of the earth and thus become the King of kings.
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will rule over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.“ — Micah 5:2
When we look at great leaders in history who played major roles, we often see the charisma with which they fulfilled their duties. That requires a divine gift—how much more so when one is to manage the affairs of the Kingdom of God!
Ensuring one person rules over nations requires great power. Sitting on the divine throne demands the presence of a powerful anointing, called the royal anointing.
The royal anointing is the unique spiritual substance intrinsic to the Holy Spirit that gives Christ the ability to rule, administer, command, and judge in all matters concerning the Kingdom of God.
The royal anointing endows the king with all forms of wisdom and spiritual intelligence, enabling him to fulfill his role with the necessary power and authority. It imparts several abilities, such as:
- To Reign: To govern as the supreme authority.
- To Decide: Sovereignly choosing preferred options.
- To Command: Giving orders by virtue of authority.
- To Administer: Managing a set of responsibilities related to one’s role and associated duties.
- To Judge: Rendering decisions as a judge to restore justice.
The Jews asked Jesus by what authority He did His works, because His charisma was evident.
When the anointing seizes a man, it triggers the manifestation of spiritual capacities that belong to God, in such a way that it is no longer the man who reigns, but God through His instrument.
The royal anointing of Christ establishes Him as Lord of lords and King of kings in this age and in the ages to come…
