Brian Edwards embarked on an extraordinary journey after earning his degree in Divinity from the prestigious University of London. His path began as Assistant Pastor to the esteemed Derek Prime in south-east London, where he not only dedicated himself to pastoral duties but also shared his knowledge as a teacher. This experience served as a foundation for his future endeavors.
Following his time in south-east London, Brian was called to serve at Hook Evangelical Church in the vibrant town of Surbiton, located in south-west London. With unwavering dedication, he faithfully served the congregation for nearly three decades. However, a new chapter awaited him, as he felt compelled to embrace a wider ministry as the President of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC), a position he held for three impactful years.
Despite his expanded responsibilities, Brian and his beloved wife, Barbara, remained connected to the Hook Church community, cherishing their continued membership. Tragically, Barbara’s life came to an end in 1998 after battling a prolonged illness. Brian, fueled by his unwavering faith, found solace in his ministry of writing, lecturing, editing, and preaching, which took him on inspiring journeys across the United Kingdom and beyond.
With over twenty books to his name, Brian has delved into various aspects of Christian theology, biography, and Bible commentary, leaving an indelible mark on the literary world. Among his notable works are “Nothing but the Truth—all you need to know about the Bible” and three co-authored books: “Through the British Museum with the Bible,” “Evidence for the Bible,” and “Background to the Bible.” He has also expertly penned historical biographies on remarkable figures such as William Tyndale and John Newton, showcasing his ability to bring the past to life. Furthermore, Brian’s editing prowess can be witnessed in the highly regarded Day One Travel Guide series.
In 2011, Brian’s path took an unexpected turn when he married Rosie, who had previously been married to Philip Crowter, a respected Grace Baptist pastor. Together, Brian and Rosie embarked on new projects, co-founding the “Discover and Explore Bible” reading notes and the “Pray Prepare Preach Bible” resource, both of which were designed to aid pastors in the majority world.
Brian and Rosie, as devoted members of Christ Church Dunstable (FIEC), continue to actively contribute to their community. Their shared love has resulted in a beautiful blend of families, with five children and fifteen cherished grandchildren.
Brian Edwards’ life is a testament to his unwavering commitment to his faith, his dedication to sharing knowledge, and his profound impact on the lives of countless individuals. His journey, filled with triumphs and challenges, inspires us to embrace our own paths with unwavering conviction and a deep desire to make a positive difference in the world.
