These prayer points are intended to provide every Congolese citizen who feels the heavy burden of nation-building with a strong foundation for praying for the nation. As previously mentioned, our nation faces spiritual issues for which only spiritual resolutions can be effective for its upliftment. We must acknowledge the greatness of God in the face of human weaknesses.

Prayer, with an understanding of the spiritual principles governing the spiritual realm to which we belong, is the key. Pastor Lord LOMBO says: “People may escape our advice, but they can never escape our prayers.“

We should focus on praying more than criticizing. The key to resolving all the problems in our nation is to first approach the throne of grace to repent for the sins and iniquities of our nation. The prayer of repentance deprives the enemy of the elements and evidence of accusation upon which he can rely to accuse us.

Similarly, repentance gives the Holy Spirit the legality to interact positively with our nation and our people. The name of Jesus cannot interact where there is no foundation of the blood of Jesus. It is the blood of Jesus that gives the name of Jesus the legality to operate and interact. Where there is the blood of Jesus as a foundation, the name of Jesus can interact easily and powerfully.

The healing of a nation is possible and conceivable when the people humble themselves, confess their sins, and implore the grace of God. Repentance is about laying the foundation of the blood of Jesus upon which the nation will be built in prosperity. 2 Chronicles 7:14:

“If my people, who are called by my name, humble themselves, pray, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their land.”

The only effective and conceivable possibility for the restoration of our nation is to return to God’s throne of grace to implore His forgiveness, grace, and mercy on us and our nation. It is about confessing the iniquities and abominations of our nation, leaders, and people. Forgiveness is not a sign of weakness but of strength.

Congolese people, let us humble ourselves before the Lord, abandon our pride, implore His forgiveness and grace on us and our nation, and confess:

• The iniquities of our forefathers and the abominations they committed that affected the entire nation.
• The innocent blood shed on our land that has defiled the nation.
• The demonic covenants and alliances entered into by our leaders, which have become strong hindrances to our nation’s flourishing.

On the 50th anniversary of Uganda’s independence, President Museveni offered a prayer in which he repented for his own sins as a leader of the nation and the iniquities of his predecessors who had left him with the position he held. This prayer can also be applied to our beloved nation, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“I stand here today to close the wicked past, especially over the last years of our national leadership history, and on the threshold of a new dispensation in the life of this nation. I stand here on my own behalf and on behalf of my predecessors to repent. We ask for your forgiveness,” Museveni prayed.

“We confess these sins that have greatly hindered our national unity and delayed our political, social, and economic transformation. We confess the sins of idolatry and witchcraft that plague our country. We confess the sins of shedding innocent blood, the sins of political hypocrisy, dishonesty, intrigue, and betrayal,” Museveni stated.

“Forgive us the sins of pride, tribalism, and sectarianism; sins of laziness, indifference, and irresponsibility; the sins of corruption and bribery that have eroded our national resources; the sins of sexual immorality, drunkenness, and debauchery; the sins of unforgiveness, bitterness, hatred, and revenge; the sins of injustice, oppression, and exploitation; sins of rebellion, insubordination, and conflict,” Museveni prayed.

Then, the president dedicated his country to God.

“We want to dedicate this nation to you so that you may be our God and our guide. We want our nation to be known as a God-fearing nation and as a nation whose foundations are firmly rooted in righteousness and justice to accomplish what the Bible says in Psalm 33:12: ‘Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, a people whom you have chosen as your own,’ Museveni prayed.

Congolese people, let us seek an alliance between God and our nation at all costs. Dedicate this nation, ourselves, and our descendants to God. Commit to fearing, respecting, and honoring God in our nation.

Other prayer points include:

• Proclaiming peace, prosperity, and blessings upon the nation rather than cursing it. The prosperity of a people depends on the prosperity of the nation, and the nation’s prosperity depends on the prayers the people offer for it (Jeremiah 29:7). The peace of the nation is the peace of the people living in it, and it’s in the prosperity of a nation that the people also find their prosperity.
• Praying for the nation’s finances and the management of money in our country. A financially prosperous nation will automatically lead to the prosperity of its inhabitants.
• Praying for the redemption of time in our city. If the nation’s time is redeemed, the time of the city’s inhabitants will also be redeemed (Ephesians 5:15-16). We must note that we are a distracted people who do not understand the importance and value of time. Yet, the quality of production depends on how we manage time.
• Praying for the healing of the land (2 Chronicles 7:14). If our people humble themselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from their wicked ways, God will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
• Praying for the healing of the pain in the hearts of the inhabitants. Pain in the hearts of the people in a nation hinders its development. This pain can result from the numerous wars our nation has endured, among other things.
• Erasing and canceling negative words spoken against our nation.
• Praying for our leaders in decision-making, as stated in 1 Timothy 2:1-2.
• Lastly, praying for the restoration of justice in our nation. Elevated justice is a major factor in elevating a nation (Psalm 89:14).
