The Political Situation: The Failure of Human Leadership
From a political standpoint, the decisions made by those who lead nations have caused great harm to the population. Pride, greed, and the hardening of our leaders’ hearts are the true roots of the problem. I say this because, looking at the number of wars and conflicts that have multiplied over the past twenty years, my heart is broken. During my research, I was personally saddened to count the number of deaths in the millions.
It has become easy to declare war, to kill, to rape, and to plunder. People are no longer cared for; on the contrary, they are treated like livestock, as bargaining chips, or as commodities for negotiation. And often in these situations, some pretend to come to help, to try to extinguish a conflict or a war, when in fact their goal is to create chaos for their own gain.
The event of September 11, 2001, in the United States is, to me, a defining moment at the start of the 2000s. The entire world was in shock at this attack—seeing planes with people on board crash into the Twin Towers left no one indifferent.
At that time, I was only 9 years old. It was the first time I saw a dramatic situation on television. I didn’t know it yet, but the world was about to enter a long series of wars and conflicts. Whether it’s the war in Iraq, the war in Kivu, the war in Syria, the war in Ukraine, the Paris attacks, the Boston Marathon bombing, the attacks in Egypt, in Tunisia—or going even further back, the genocide in Rwanda—all these are evidence that human leadership has shown its limits and that the hearts of men are filled with hatred, bitterness, and pride.
What kind of effective leadership can we expect if such people are at the head of our states? Being a spectator of man’s self-destruction by man surely does not bring joy to God’s heart. In His original intent, I believe God never intended for man to dominate or subjugate his fellow man. No, the mandate was to have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living creature that moves on the earth.
It is therefore not right to make another human being one’s subject, to dominate, crush, and destroy them. If humanity has reached this level of wickedness, it is because of the condition of its heart. We are also witnessing a significant rise in migration, as populations have no choice but to flee. Families are torn apart during these escapes, and children are traumatized by war.
There is no need to say more—we clearly see that human leadership has reached its limits. The decisions and governance of those who lead us are not always aligned with God’s will. In truth, this does not surprise me because Jesus Christ had already warned of it before His departure: the increase in wars, nations rising against each other, men becoming more and more evil, and hearts growing even harder toward God. This should not surprise a Christian.
I believe the reason the Lord reveals these things to us is so we may wake up. Just as evil is increasing, so must the light shine all the more.
The State of Society: Moral Depravity and the Trivialization of the Sacred
Moral depravity is defined as a set of unnatural behaviors—an immoral way of acting, particularly in terms of sexuality and social norms or rules imposed by the social morality of a given era. Human sexuality is a complex phenomenon governed by a variety of laws and social norms. It is an area of social concern that involves issues related to health, procreation, demographics, taboos, and laws. From a biblical perspective, sexuality is sacred. Its practice and use are defined within a proper framework.
After creating the heavens and the earth, the Lord decided to create man and placed him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it (Genesis 2:15). Then something happened in the following verses. Seeing that the man was the only being of his kind in Eden, the Lord concluded that it was not good for man to be alone. He therefore decided to make a being like him, but with a particular difference. To do so, He brought Adam to the animals of the field and the birds of the sky so he could name each one (Genesis 2:19).
And that is what Adam did—he named all the animals brought before him. Then, by carefully observing, he realized that among animals of the same species, some had sexual differences. I believe he must have asked himself: “Why isn’t that the case with me? Why doesn’t a human being of the same kind exist with such sexual differences?”
I believe that God orchestrated everything. It was no accident that He asked Adam to name the animals and birds. In my opinion, God wanted man to feel the need himself—to desire that God would do the same for him, His creature. You see, once again, God did not impose or decide in Adam’s place. The decision had to come from Adam himself.
That realization was the key. God put Adam into a deep sleep, and upon waking, the being he needed was before him: the woman. Another version of him had been created—a version like him, but of a different sex. God blessed them and told them to be fruitful, to multiply, and to fill the earth. In other words, this marked the birth of the sexual act between two people of different sexes (male and female), within a blessed union—marriage.
It is important to understand this: sexuality is sacred. It was not created by man, but by God. And we know that when God creates something, it is for good—not for evil or to be misused. Sadly, sexuality is increasingly being disrespected and trivialized. It has been desacralized. I want to remind us that when God creates something for man, it is so that man may glorify Him. The problem arises when we begin to worship and glorify the creation rather than the Creator. When we do that, it is the beginning of sin.
We understand, therefore, that sex, when practiced within the ideal framework, is a form of worship to God. But when the opposite happens, it displeases God. That is why debauchery and all forms of infidelity are displeasing to Him, because these practices completely distort the meaning of sexuality according to its Creator.
Today, sexual misconduct affects all age groups. Satan and his kingdom are working tirelessly to lead as many as possible astray. All it takes is a smartphone and an internet connection to easily access pornographic sites, erotic images, and all kinds of ads promoting sexuality. And there are no restrictions preventing a 10-year-old or 17-year-old from accessing them. Just one click—and it’s all free.
As a result, in search of relief, children and adolescents are introduced to masturbation. No need for a man or a woman—one can satisfy oneself using their own hands and fingers or with objects known as sex toys. All of this is happening right before our eyes. Destinies and lives are being shattered every day because of such practices. Sex is no longer valued as it should be. The original purpose for which it was created by God has been completely distorted by mankind. The sacred has lost its value.
This observation once again reveals the moral decay and the state the world is in. Evil is growing to such an extent that it is now difficult to distinguish between what is good and what is bad. What is bad has become the norm—there are no limits; everything is permitted, nothing is forbidden.
See for yourself—each of us can form our own opinion on the matter. I am not inventing anything; everything I am saying is factual. We know that same-sex marriage has become normalized and that there are laws legalizing it. Am I saying something new? I don’t think so.
The rates of rape and sexual assault have significantly increased. There isn’t a single day when we are not either victims ourselves or informed that such acts occurred right next to us. Look around—can we really say that the world is in a good state? Do you think we are going in the direction God intended?
