The verb to know, in the sense that gives birth to something, is yada in Hebrew, which means intimacy. Confirming this interpretation, I heard the voice of the Lord say to me: – “You see, Carmene, if it is written that Jesus did not know sin, it is because he had no sin in him, inside him.” Jesus therefore did not have an intimate relationship with sin. With this new insight into the meaning of the verb to know, it becomes interesting to look at this other verse from the Bible:

You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32).

As soon as you have an intimate relationship with the truth and it penetrates you, it produces the fruit of freedom. To be free, it is therefore a question of creating a deep relationship, an intimacy with God, a communion, like the one that Adam and Eve lost in the Garden of Eden. It is essential for human beings, because it is not by chance that God, after creating them, placed man in a garden in Eden.

On the spiritual level, “in Eden” means “in his presence”: “Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, on the east side, and there he put the man whom he had formed.” (Genesis 2:8). This explains why, unlike animals, protected by their fur, feathers or scales, Man (Adam and Eve) was naked, needing only the glory of God as a covering. God, the only source of life, created man so that he could live in his presence, in deep relationship and communion with him.

Now let us remember that it was only once God breathed into his nostrils that man became a living creature and that original sin had the consequence of separating man from God, thus creating death. Our need to maintain a great proximity with God is therefore a vital need. Moreover, God seeks and encourages this proximity: “Jesus said: I no longer call you servants because the servant does not know what his lord is doing, but I have called you friends because I have made known to you all that I have learned from my father.” (John 15:15).

We understand here that if he encourages this proximity, it is because it is in intimacy that we have revelation. As proof, this other verse from the Bible in which God says to Abraham: “Shall I hide from Abraham my friend what I am about to do?” (Genesis 18:17) Abraham had a relationship of intimacy with God. Lot, his nephew, was going to die. But God prevented him by a revelation, allowing him to intercede on behalf of Lot and finally save him from the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah.

This essential need for us that is the presence of God, sin has deprived us of it: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) But Christ came to redeem our sins, reconcile us, and allow us to draw closer to God. This knowledge that God speaks to you about in Isaiah 5:13 does not simply lead you to have information about him or a simple understanding of his Word but to live profound experiences with him.

The Bible, by specifying that Elijah, Moses and David were of the same nature as us, favors our projection: Since God is the same yesterday, today and forever, we can also live the type of relationship that these 3 prophets lived. It all depends on our spiritual maturity and our desire to have a relationship with the Lord. There are 3 types of relationships:

• A childish relationship, restricted by immaturity: “I have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.” (John 16:12)

• A servant relationship, whose limits are quickly reached: “I no longer call you servants, because the servant does not know what his lord is doing” (John 15:15)

• A relationship of friends, which in the Bible does not refer to a simple friendly relationship between girlfriends or a friendship relationship, but designates an intimate relationship comparable to a husband-wife relationship: “Indeed, your husband is your maker, and the Lord Almighty is his name.” (Isaiah 54:5)

Of these 3 types of relationships, God has chosen to maintain a relationship of friends with you, the most rewarding and fulfilling for man. He wants to create with you a friendly, intimate relationship, a communion. He wants to be an integral part of your life and in all areas: studies, marriage, work, clothing choices, difficulties, desires …

The Lord stands at your door and wishes, if you desire and open the door to him, to enter, dine with you and find a home …
