Another major problem with this so-called “deliverance ministry” is that people become so caught up in delivering one another and organizing “deliverance meetings” that they lose sight of Jesus’ first command: the evangelization of the nations (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15).

Nowadays, entire churches and ministries are engaged in this so-called deliverance. As a result, they no longer win souls as they used to, because they have plunged into this “deliverance ministry”! This is proof that they have gone astray. What fruit are they bearing for the glory of God? Where is the fruit Jesus spoke of in John 15:8: “My Father is glorified by this: that you bear MUCH FRUIT…“?

Furthermore, this so-called “deliverance” leads people today to focus more on the devil and his works than on God and what He is doing. Because of this teaching, Christians see themselves as victims of every demon ready to pounce on them, instead of claiming the all-powerful blood of Jesus Christ, His finished work on the Cross, and the power of the Word of God, which can preserve them from the Evil One.

If the Evil One can attack Christians at any time to the point where they constantly need deliverance, then the blood of Jesus is ineffective, and our redemption is incomplete. This does not mean that Christians cannot open a door to the enemy themselves. Of course, they can. But those who walk in the light of the Word do not need to fear evil spirits jumping on them at any moment.

If Christians walk in the light and Satan tries to harass them, they have the necessary authority to resist him successfully. No, the vast majority of Christians simply need to spend quality time studying the Word of God, feeding on it so that their minds and flesh come into alignment with it.

The Word of God is anointed and can meet all the needs of their lives. They must stop trying to find quick fixes in these so-called “deliverance sessions.”

When the believer truly sees who they are in Christ and understands the power available to those who are in Him, it becomes impossible for a demon to take hold of them, as long as they walk in obedience to the Word.

It is not in God’s plan for sincere Christians to get bogged down in practices that rob them of all spiritual effectiveness. They could be helping people find salvation and be healed, but instead, they are chasing demons that are neither in them nor in others.

In fact, many “deliverance doctrine teachers” are simply novices in the ministry with less than fifteen years of experience. I have been in the ministry for nearly sixty years and have seen certain patterns reappear periodically in the Body of Christ.

For instance, this “deliverance teaching” is not a new doctrine nor a special revelation for the end times, as some would have us believe. I saw this doctrine emerge and fade away back when I was young in the ministry, in the 1930s and 40s. It seems to resurface every fifteen or twenty years and sweeps away a certain branch of Christianity in its wake.

When Christians fall into imbalance and excess, others begin to recognize the error in the doctrine, and it starts to fade. Then, the devil stirs up another “wind of doctrine” to drag believers into excess in another area. The Bible exhorts us not to be ignorant of Satan’s devices, his methods of seduction…
