Below are five major powers of the earth. This is foundational knowledge, crucial for praying effectively for the earth.

2.1 – The earth can record a command and execute it:

“O land, land, land, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Lord says: ‘Record this man as childless, a man who will not prosper in his lifetime, for none of his offspring will succeed in sitting on David’s throne or ruling in Judah.’”
—Jeremiah 22:29-30

Jeremiah was a prophet but also a human being like us. What he did, we too can and must do. Indeed, Jesus has given us everything, especially authority over the elements. This passage shows how it is possible to make a negative decree against someone by speaking to the earth.

This is what some people who do not know God do, yet they understand the earth’s power. Let us also be among those who understand this power and act, for our God is more powerful than the false gods of those who deny Jesus.

2.2 – The earth can bring healing

Jesus left us an example so that we might imitate Him. He operated with the earth to show that it obeys commands. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the earth also brings healing to sick humans.

“After saying this, he spat on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. ‘Go,’ he told him, ‘wash in the Pool of Siloam’ (this word means ‘Sent’). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.“
—John 9:6

2.3 – Blood spilled into the earth speaks

“Then the Lord said, ‘What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.’“
—Genesis 4:11

The earth can receive a liquid (in this example, Abel’s blood), and the liquid cries out from the ground. Other liquids poured into the ground play an important role in the exercise of divine justice.

2.4 – The earth contains many altars

The earth contains altars built by humans. These human-constructed altars have a language and a voice that are heard in the spiritual realm.

“Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it.“
—Genesis 28:18

“Balaam said to Balak, ‘Build me seven altars here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me.’“
—Numbers 23:1

2.5 – Objects and humans are buried in the earth

The earth holds the gate to death and the realm of the dead. The same earth upon which the living walk also contains the dead.

“The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.“
—Matthew 27
