The Triumphant Church, Not A Fighting And Defeated One
Some people speak of the Church as being in battle. Among them are those who believe we must fight demons in order to achieve success.
As for me, I prefer to speak of the triumphant Church because it is scriptural. Jesus’ triumph over Satan is the triumph of every believer who can benefit from that victory if they walk in the light of their inheritance in Christ.
People who constantly talk about a fighting Church are often those who are always battling the devil:
“We are at war with the devil. The fight will be tough! We are heading into battle!”
Those who speak like this need to have the eyes of their understanding enlightened so they can see that the battle has already been won by Jesus Christ. All they need to do now is stand in that victory.
When the eyes of your understanding are enlightened to see your rightful position in Christ—a position of victory—then, when you are confronted by opposing forces, you will know how to act. Through your authority in Christ over evil spirits, you will resist them with the Word of God and put them in their place.
The Body of Christ is triumphant. Thank you, Lord—we can triumph over sin, sickness, poverty, and bad habits thanks to our inheritance in Christ. And we can triumph over demons, evil spirits, and everything the enemy tries to do to bind us, because Jesus has already defeated them for us.
Jesus had no reason to engage in such an immense conflict for our redemption unless it was for us—to snatch us from the hands of the enemy. Glory to God, He did it to redeem His Church, the Body of believers, who would receive their inheritance in Christ and rule and reign in triumph and victory over the devil in the affairs of life. That is what Jesus accomplished for us, and His victory over Satan is ours.
What belongs to us in Christ requires nothing more than for us to take hold of it or appropriate it by faith. We don’t need to struggle to believe in something that is already ours. But we must know what belongs to us, otherwise we won’t take our rightful position in Christ and benefit from what is already ours.
Wherever God’s plan of redemption is revealed, people find salvation and can then take control of their circumstances and dominate demonic forces, instead of letting those forces dominate them.
The Body of Christ does not need to cowardly give in to the forces of darkness or submit to satanic dominion. No—we must rise boldly in the name of Jesus and, as the triumphant Church, take the place that our inheritance as sons and daughters of the Most High God has reserved for us…
